Day 11 - 12

Day 11 - The booming metropolis of Panguitch, Utah (population 1,500) was our next campground a short stop from Bryce National Park.

This park casts a spell on all who see the colorful pink, orange and white "hoodoos" (a pillar of rock, usually of fantastic shape caused by erosion).

We went to Yovima and Rainbow Point and walked the Bristlecone Pine Loop Trail to view the vistas (as far as the eye can see is a span of 250 miles) and a 1,600 year old tree.

On our way out of the park we saw over 30 grazing pronghorn antelope (the fastest land mammal on the North American continent and can reach speeds of up to 60 mph).

Day 12 - After a sleep in and late breakfast we ventured down to the bottom of the canyon and into the land of

Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon Park leaving from Sunrise Point on the Queens Garden, Wall Street and Navajo Loop Trail returning up to Sunset Point. The 3 mile hike took us by Queen Victoria and her Castle, two natural bridges, and Thors Hammer - the kids named quite a few on their own.

We brought our journals along for the hike and made stops to share their camp experiences by reading and remembering the different places we saw together during camp. We went back to camp for a refreshing swim in the pool.

After dinner we hooped it up at the local Rodeo and laughed and enjoyed the cowboy/girls roping cattle, riding bulls and barrel racing.
